A leading fenestration business is recruiting for a Head of Technical Development to work within their head offices in Antrim, Ireland.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced fenestration product development engineer who has developed new products, improved existing products, and manufacturing processes and systems.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creation and development of product roadmaps, working on development and new product creation.
  • Evaluate projects and prepare feasibility studies to define desired results, assess value proposition and determine project plans 
  • Analyse, provide specifications and perform acquisition for new or replacement manufacturing equipment 
  • Improve existing manufacturing operations, incorporating new methods/processes 
  • Prepare manufacturing documentation required for product manufacture 
  • Analyse requirements and make recommendations for facility systems, processes, equipment needs, and engineering product designs 
  • Drive out waste through lean manufacturing tools and techniques 
  • Complete both specialised and broad-based assignments / projects which may require collaboration and integration with other departments, universities and technical partners

Candidates applying for this role must have significant experience of the theory, technology, processes, fenestration systems and testing environment within manufacturing of windows & doors and construction industries. You will be knowledgeable in plastics processing as well as building regulations, standards, testing and certification. You will have the ability to lead new product introduction across departments ensuring co-operation from operations, manufacturing engineering, customer support, service and sales.

Knowledge and usage of AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Solidworks 3D, Microsoft Project or similar, product Data Management system as well as thermal simulations and calculations is essential. You must be able to use appropriate software packages, have good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills. Being qualified in a related engineering discipline would be advantageous.
