Site Engineer – UPVC Fabrication Machinery & Site Maintenance
Location: Aldridge, West Midlands
Job Type: Full-time (40–45 hours per week)
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 DOE

About the Role

We are working on behalf of an established UPVC window and door manufacturing business seeking an experienced Maintenance Engineer / Site Engineer.

This is a varied, hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing specialist UPVC fabrication machinery as well as supporting general site and facilities maintenance. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring maximum equipment uptime and smooth day-to-day production operations.

Key Responsibilities

Machinery Maintenance

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on UPVC fabrication machineryDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults
• Respond quickly to breakdowns to minimise production downtimeInstall, commission, and relocate machinery when required
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and service schedulesLiaise with external suppliers and contractors where necessary

Site Maintenance

• Carry out general building and facilities maintenance tasks
• Maintain site services including lighting, heating, compressed air systems, and utilities
• Undertake minor repairs to buildings, fixtures, and equipment
• Support health & safety inspections and ensure compliance with procedures
• Maintain workshop tools and maintenance equipment

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve machinery reliability and efficiency
• Support machinery upgrades and improvement projectsAssist in managing spare parts stock levels and recommendations

Candidate Requirements

Essential

• Proven experience in a maintenance engineering role within manufacturing or production
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skillsBasic electrical fault-finding ability
• Experience working with industrial machinery
• Ability to read technical drawings and manualsStrong organisational and record-keeping skills
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

Desirable

Experience with UPVC fabrication machinery (e.g., welding, routing, cutting, CNC, corner cleaning)Electrical qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ, 18th Edition or equivalent)Knowledge of PLC-controlled systemsHealth & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent)
