A leading manufacturer of uPVC windows and doors, based in Walsall, is seeking a proactive and experienced Technical Manager to oversee the technical and operational aspects of its fabrication facility. The company supplies trade customers across the UK and prides itself on consistent lead times, high-quality manufacturing, and excellent customer service.

With significant investment in modern machinery and scalable processes, the business is looking for a hands-on technical leader to drive quality, efficiency, and innovation on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee all technical aspects of uPVC window and door fabrication, from production planning to final product quality.
  • Lead a team of supervisors and operatives across multiple production lines to meet daily and weekly output targets.
  • Maintain and improve manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with PAS24, BS7412, and other relevant fenestration standards.
  • Support the integration and optimisation of fabrication software (e.g., Business Micros Evolution and Evolution Designer).
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance procedures, carrying out root cause analysis and corrective actions when necessary.
  • Provide ongoing technical support and training to staff to improve skill levels and ensure product consistency.
  • Ensure machine maintenance schedules are followed, minimising downtime and supporting overall factory efficiency.
  • Act as the technical lead for new product introductions, changes to profile systems, or updates from system suppliers.
  • Liaise with suppliers and system houses (such as Liniar or Eurocell) to ensure materials and components meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to resolve technical queries and support bespoke order requirements.
  • Uphold and enforce all health and safety regulations and company policies on the shop floor.

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Previous experience in a technical or managerial role within the uPVC fabrication industry is essential.
  • Strong understanding of uPVC window and door manufacturing, including welding, corner cleaning, reinforcement, and glazing.
  • Familiarity with Business Micros software systems used for window and door production.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • A hands-on leadership style with the ability to manage people and processes effectively.
  • Solid understanding of industry regulations and testing requirements (e.g., weather performance, security compliance).
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
