Excuse the Window & Door related pun in the title! However, it doesn’t take away that in most processes or business interactions, communication between the parties involved is vital for a successful outcome and a good experience all round.
This is the same within a recruitment process!
As a recruitment company it is a part of our service to manage the communication from start to finish, advising both client and candidate, helping each party navigate areas such as:
Appropriate and consistent communication ensures as a business, you get the candidate you want and as a candidate, you get the role you have been waiting for.
For our client’s, not only do we advise that a detailed job specification and clear salary package are vital for sourcing a new employee. But being clear with a timescale on the hiring process and providing timely feedback is paramount. A candidate is far more likely to stay engaged and wish to progress with an application when they understand the role and requirements and do not feel their time will be wasted waiting on feedback that does not materialise.
For a candidate to resign from their current position and join a new business, it’s a big decision. To attract the calibre of person that you desire, communicating clearly and following up with what has been promised in writing, goes a long way. There are multiple examples from candidates “that a company promised X on interview and never followed through, so they are now back in the job market”.
For our Candidate’s, the advice is similar, be clear about the role and salary you are looking for. Be prepared for an interview, do your research on the business beforehand, ask those questions. Be honest and prompt with your interview feedback, nobody wants to waste time so if it’s not for you, no problem. It’s just as important for a potential employer to be engaged in you as a candidate as it is for you to be engaged with them as a company.
Even after a successful selection and interview, a common place where the hiring process can falter from both a candidate and client perspective are the conversations about salary. For some this can be a little awkward, which is why we as the recruitment agency manage this for you. We are here to have the conversations which may be difficult and can work with both the client and candidate to build a package happy for all parties. However, we need both parties to be clear to us from the start. Changing the salary parameter right at the end of the process, can be difficult to navigate and will likely halter or even end the process. A negative outcome for all.
Here at Chase Taylor, we are trusted to handle hundreds of interview process’s every year and do so by doing our best to effectively communicate with both parties throughout.
